Clinical Exercise VS Open Pilates

Main differences between Clinical Exercise & Open Pilates

Clinical Exercise

What is it?

Clinical Exercise is a combination of Physiotherapy Rehab. and Clinical Pilates.

At CPP, we utilise this training method to establish a focus on movement control through functional, targeted, and individualised rehabilitation programmes.

We employ a combination of mat exercises and pilates reformer exercises, to ensure we are able to meet your specific goals.

How does Clinical Exercise differ from Open Pilates?

Clinical Exercise is prescribed and supervised by trained Clinical Pilates Physiotherapists, whom have expert knowledge and training of the human body. It differs from Open Pilates as it is a specifically tailored programme, designed by a trained Physiotherapist, for each individual.

This is of particular importance as it considers an individual’s specific injuries and physical needs, rather than have every person work in the same way.

At CPP we utilise a Movement-Based Classification and Treatment system, meaning we determine which exercises are best suited to each individual person and modify the routine according to this movement analysis. This is particularly important if you’re rehabilitating an injury, returning to exercise, have recently had surgery or would like to avoid injury.

Clinical Exercise is rebatable on your private health fund, whether you conduct a one-on-one, duet or trio session.

How do I get started?

Prior to commencing any rehabilitation programme, we need to complete a thorough assessment.

This is a private session which allows us to address any injuries or ailments you may be concerned about, ensures baseline measures are established and, determines any specific goals you may like to achieve.

Open Pilates

What is it?

Open Pilates is just that - open!

These sessions are provided on a pilates reformer and are best suited to those who are familiar with pilates exercise and principles, particularly on reformer, or are looking for an all-over body workout. You may also like to try these sessions after graduating from Clinical Exercise, where you no longer require the specifically-tailored routine. All participants conduct the same exercise, at the same time in a safe and welcoming environment.

You do not need an initial consultation prior to entering into an Open session and therefore, these classes are non-rebatable on private health insurance.

These sessions have a maximum of 4 people so get in quick to join us for a bit of fun!
